My first experience doing a dungeon in the wow powerleveling Wrath expansion was actually Ahn¡¯haket: Old Kingdom, not the Nexus or Utgarde Keep. I went there with a prot warrior, another mage, a rogue and a resto druid. It was pretty much a culture shock to me when we weren¡¯t using any form of crowd control at all but we owned the dungeon easily anyway. I¡¯ve been to several other dungeons since then but it¡¯s still the same story - no CC, all AoE! Imagine the shock when I found out that Blizzard actually doesn¡¯t mind all the AoE fun, in fact they¡¯re providing ways for some of the other classes to join in.
According to Ghostcrawler, they following changes will be included n the next minor content patch:
Shaman ¨C we are removing the threat component from Fire Nova Totem and Magma Totem and increasing the damage from Magma Totem. This should provide the Elemental shamans in particular with some formidable AE.
Rogue ¨C we are removing the cooldown from Fan of Knives and adjusting the damage calculation slightly to make daggers more useful for this ability.
These are all nice changes but it seems like shadow priests were left our of the wow powerleveling AoE fun. I¡¯m not familiar with warriors but I think DPS warriors were too. Of course these classes weren¡¯t really meant to do AoE damage but it would be nice to join in even a little bit.
On the other hand, I sure hope that as the 5 mans get more serious Crowd Control usage will also have a more prominent role in dungeons like it used to.
