I don't mean to put a damper on your wow powerleveling thread. I hope you beat the odds if you decide to try this. Just wanted to say, I have no regrets about trying and failing. It was still a rewarding experience. Best of luck to you.
I recently created my first guild (about two months ago) and have found it to be quite successful. We have 40 members and a crew of about 15 or so that are fully committed to the guild. We have a very large guild bank and the vault is filled with items for low level members. All in all i have to say that creating this guild was one of the best ideas i have ever had. The two secrets i can share with you is that you have to have charisma when dealing with guild matters and you have to have friends to help you out. without the assistance of a friend i think it is about ten times harder to build a strong guild foundation. But with the help of my friends the guild has flourished into something that is really special and in it's short existence has created a "family" of its most committed members. We have some who come and go but no matter what there are certain people i can always count on to be faithful to the guild and to help out.
Most guilds fail. Most guilds fail due a failure of leadership. Then there are those that have fine leadership but whose timing was bad, or who are on a server that just cannot support another guild of wow powerleveling whatever kind they are trying to build, or who don't happen to catch the eye of people who are looking for what they offer until those people are happily ensconced in the other guild offering the same thing that started up on the same day.
In other words, doing things right is a necessary condition for success, but it's not sufficient. You can mitigate some of the randomness, but things happen and some good potential guilds drown.
On the other hand, not everyone gets it right the first time. You can look at what random factors helped you fail this time, figure out how to account for or vitiate them, and try again. You'd be surprised how many people only get it "right" on the second or third try.
I've found being a guild leader is very tough work.
Keeping people happy isn't a way I ever thought I would be spending wow powerleveling 15 dollars a month on, but here I am.
Yes I've had a lot of problems with people getting along, getting to 80, keeping activity. But I persevered and here we are raiding 10 mans and everything.
